About Relatable

Elie Ballas, Ben Kaplan and Elliot Tebele founded the company in New York in 2016. It was built around a simple card game: match a funny caption to a meme photo. What Do You Meme? first went on sale in December 2016 and became the company's name.

In 2023 the company rebranded as Relatable, reflecting a range that had grown well beyond memes. In February 2024 it bought Hunt A Killer, the murder-mystery game. At the time it said it held more than 32% of the US adult games market (brand statement).

What Do You Meme? is the game that started the company. Players match caption cards to a photo card on an easel, and a rotating judge picks the funniest meme. The core game has 360 caption cards and 75 photo cards for 3 to 20 or more players, aged 17 and over. NSFW, After Hours and Fresh Memes packs add cards, and a GIF Edition swaps photos for animated images.

Buzzed

Buzzed is Relatable's drinking-game line, rated for ages 21 and over. The core game is a deck of prompts and challenges for three or more players, with an expansion pack for more. Buzzed Battle turns it into a team game, and Buzzed Hook and Ring and Flip Cup add party-table games. They suit bucks night gifts and big group nights, with water close by.

Let's Get Deep

Let's Get Deep is a couples' card game built on three levels of question: Ice Breaker, Deep and Deeper. It suits two or more players aged 17 and over, and works for new couples and long-term partners alike. The After Hours Expansion adds spicier questions, and a Friends Edition shifts the focus to close mates. LET'S GET DEEP is a registered US mark.

What's The Lyric

What's The Lyric is a music trivia line. Pull a card and either finish the lyric or answer a trivia question about the song, and the first to ten correct cards wins. Each 100-card deck fits in a bag, with Pop and Country editions plus an Ultimate Bundle. There are no rules to learn, so it works at pre-drinks or on a road trip.

Hunt A Killer

Hunt A Killer is the murder-mystery brand Relatable bought in February 2024. It began in 2016 and had sold around four million games by the time of the deal. Players work through physical evidence, such as documents and clues, to solve a case over several sessions. It suits true-crime fans and groups who want a longer game than a party deck.

Beyond its main lines, Relatable makes several standalone party games, mostly rated 17 and over. New Phone Who Dis? pairs 240 inbox cards with 300 reply cards for 3 to 20 players. Incohearent asks players to decode gibberish phrases, with an NSFW pack. For The Girls is a truth-and-dare game for girls' nights, and InQueeries is an LGBTQ+ party game by queer writers.

Couples and date-night games

Relatable's relationship games sit alongside Let's Get Deep. Are We Compatible? turns a compatibility test into a game for two, rated 18 and over. Outside the Buzzed line, Relatable makes stand-alone drinking games for ages 21 and over. King's Cup Extreme updates the classic with over 100 mini-games. Who Killed Mia? is a modern murder mystery built around a fictional influencer. Players work through three packs of evidence, using a smartphone to read texts and watch footage. Each pack reveals more of the story, so keep them sealed until it is time.

How a Relatable party game plays

Most Relatable party games use the same simple engine. One player reads a prompt or shows a picture, everyone else plays their funniest card, and that round's judge picks a winner. The judge role rotates, so everyone gets a turn.

That makes them easy to teach in a minute, even after a drink. Rounds are short, so people can join or leave at any time. Expansion packs add new cards without changing the rules.

Most decks also suit a quick game for three people, though they shine with a bigger crowd. Bigger groups mean more cards in play and more laughs per round.

Couples' games work differently. Let's Get Deep and Are We Compatible? use question cards that you answer and discuss, with no winner at all. The aim is to learn something new about each other, so take your time with each card.

Age ratings and Australian classification

Relatable labels its adult games 17 and over for mature language, and its drinking games 21 and over.
