Megasol Cosmetic GmbH is the German maker of EROS lubricants, based in Föhren near Trier. Its range covers silicone, water-based and hybrid lubes, anal and flavoured lubes, massage products and sex toy cleaners.

About Megasol

Megasol began in 1987, when Peter Kertels started making sun-care cosmetics in Trier, in western Germany. While developing a silicone-based care line, the company created EROS Bodyglide, which it describes as the world’s first silicone-based lubricant. Demand grew quickly, and new capacity followed in 1992.

In 1997 Megasol moved into a purpose-built office and production building in the Föhren industrial park, close to the motorway network. Today it makes lubricants and body care under its own brands, EROS, LYLOU and Megasilk, and produces private-label cosmetics for other companies. Peter Kertels remains managing director.

Megasol brands

Megasol sells under three house brands.

EROS

EROS is Megasol’s main brand, with the slogan The True Love. Megasol says its EROS Bodyglide was the world’s first silicone-based lubricant, created while it was developing a silicone care line. Today EROS covers silicone, water-based, hybrid and bio and vegan lubes, plus massage, cleaning and stimulation products. It fills much of our range of lubricants and lotions. Most EROS products are made at Megasol’s own plant in Föhren.

LYLOU

LYLOU is Megasol’s second brand, registered as an Australian trademark in 2010. The registration covers cosmetics, personal care preparations and intimate products. Megasol lists LYLOU beside EROS and Megasilk as one of its three house brands. Like the rest of the company’s range, it is made at the Föhren plant in Germany. Adultsmart currently focuses on the EROS range, but LYLOU completes the Megasol family of brands.

Megasilk

Megasilk is Megasol’s massage and care brand. Its best-known product is Megasilk Massage Fluid, a long-lasting formula for partial or full-body massage. The brand also makes an alcohol-free cleaning spray for sensitive surfaces. Megasilk suits couples who want a smooth glide for massage, then something to clean up with afterwards. A hybrid formula keeps the glide going without sinking in too fast, so the massage lasts longer.

EROS lines

Most of the EROS range falls into these named lines.

Bodyglide

Bodyglide is the EROS silicone line that started it all. EROS Classic Silicone Bodyglide is pure silicone without parabens or glycerin. Super Concentrated Bodyglide and Bodyglide for Women are richer versions for longer glide. Unlike water-based lubes, silicone does not soak into the skin, so a little lasts a long time, even in the shower. Wipe it off with warm, soapy water.

Aqua

Aqua is the EROS water-based line. It includes classic EROS Aqua, Aqua Sensations with a cooling feel, and Aqua Sensitive, which is glycerin-free with aloe vera and panthenol. Aqua Hyaluron adds hyaluronic acid, and a 1000 ml pump bottle suits regular users. The glycerin-free version sits among our lubes for sensitive skin. All are safe with condoms and every kind of sex toy.

Action

Action is the EROS line for more adventurous play. It includes Action water-silicone lube with panthenol, Stimulation Gel Relax for anal play, and Prolong for Men spray. The Action range also has several sex toy cleaners, with and without alcohol. Patch test the gels and sprays first, and avoid broken skin. Action suits couples who like to try new sensations, with clear labels on each bottle.

Power

Power is the EROS line of thicker, longer-lasting formulas. Aqua Power Bodylube and Power Toylube are water-based, while Mega Power Anal is a high-viscosity silicone anal lube. Power Anal is the water-based anal version. Hot Power and Cool Power stimulation gels add a warming or cooling sensation, and Fresh Power is a sex toy cleaner. Use water-based Power lubes with silicone sex toys.

2in1

2in1 is the EROS line that combines two jobs in one bottle. It includes a water-based lube for sex toys, a cleaner for skin and sex toys, and a hybrid fist gel. Care Delay and Anal Delay are sold as delay gels with lubricating properties. The range suits people who want fewer bottles on the bedside table. Patch test the delay gels first. Each bottle is small enough to travel.

Fisting Gel

Fisting Gel is the EROS line for deep and fist play. UltraX is a thick water-silicone hybrid that cushions and lasts, and SlideX is a water-based anal gel. Hybride

Hybride is the EROS hybrid line, blending water and silicone. Hybride Power Bodyglide and Bodylube give the longer glide of silicone with the easy clean-up of water. Tasty Fruits

Tasty Fruits is the EROS flavoured lube line. Flavours include lemon, cola and kiwi strawberry, in 30 ml and 100 ml bottles. The lubes are water-based and sugar-free, made for oral sex as well as penetration. Water-based formulas are safe with condoms and every type of sex toy, and they rinse off easily. Patch test first if you have sensitive skin, as flavourings can tingle.

Tasty Dessert

Tasty Dessert is the sweeter sister of Tasty Fruits. It brings dessert flavours, including lamington cake, to a water-based lube made for oral sex and intercourse. It comes in 30 ml and 100 ml bottles. Like all water-based lubes, it is safe with condoms and silicone sex toys. Check the flavourings if you have food allergies. A little goes a long way, so start small.

Wellness

Wellness is the EROS massage line. It includes 50 ml massage oils blending sesame, jojoba and almond oils, sold singly or in a three-pack with vanilla, caramel and coconut. Kissable Massage Gel Strawberry adds a warming, flavoured option. Oils can weaken latex, so keep them away from condoms. Avoid almond oil if you have a nut allergy. Warm the oil in your hands first.

Bio and vegan lubes

Megasol makes a bio and vegan category under the EROS name. EROS Bio and Vegan Aqua is a water-based lube certified by the Vegan Society. It suits people who avoid animal-derived ingredients and testing. Like other water-based lubes, it is safe with condoms and silicone sex toys, and it rinses off with water. Store it out of direct sunlight, and close the cap tightly.

Sex toy cleaners

Megasol makes one of the widest ranges of sex toy cleaners. EROS makes body and sex toy cleaners in 100, 150 and 200 ml sprays, plus an all-purpose cleaner, all in alcohol-free versions. Action Cleaner with 20% alcohol suits hard materials. Spray, wipe and rinse, then let the sex toy dry before storing it. Never use alcohol cleaners on skin or on porous materials such as TPE.

Silicone, water or hybrid?

Our guide to personal lubricants explains the main differences. Silicone lube lasts longest and works in water, but it should not be used with silicone sex toys. Water-based lube is safe with every sex toy and condom, and it washes off easily, though it may need topping up. Hybrids sit in between, giving longer glide with easier clean-up. EROS makes all three, so you can choose by the kind of play you enjoy.

Lube for anal play

The anus does not make its own lubrication, so lube is essential. EROS makes several anal options. Mega Power Anal and Anal Silicone Glide are long-lasting silicone formulas, while Power Anal and SlideX are water-based for use with silicone sex toys. Caring for your sex toys

Megasol makes cleaners because lube and sex toys go together. After each use, spray the sex toy, wipe it down and rinse it under warm water. Alcohol-free cleaners suit silicone, TPE and soft materials. The 20% alcohol cleaner suits glass, metal and hard plastic. Let everything dry fully before you store it, and keep different materials apart.
