About Empire Labs

Empire Labs began in 1996 in the San Francisco Bay Area as a specialty materials company. How a casting kit works

The process has three stages. First, you mix the algae-based molding powder with water and pour it into the tube or container. Then the penis or vulva goes into the mixture for about a minute while it sets around the body. This creates a detailed negative mold.

Next, you mix the two parts of the silicone and pour it into the mold. In penis kits, you push the vibrator into the centre before the silicone sets. Finally, you leave it to cure, usually overnight, then peel away the mold to reveal the copy.

Getting a good first mold

The hardest part of a penis kit is staying fully erect for the minute the powder takes to set. A partner can help keep things exciting, and a cock ring helps keep the erection firm. Practise the pour with water before you mix the real powder.

Lay out everything first, as the powder sets quickly once mixed. You will need scissors, a mixing bowl, a disposable cup and a piece of cardboard to hold the vibrator in place. If the first mold has gaps or bubbles, a powder refill lets you try again.

Sizing

Standard Clone-A-Willy kits are designed around the average penis, which Empire Labs gives as 5.1 inches long and 2.3 inches wide. If you are over 7 to 8 inches long or thicker than average, you may need extra silicone and the XL vibrator. The Plus+ Balls kit already uses a larger mold and more silicone.

Caring for your copy

Platinum-cure silicone is non-porous, so a finished copy is easy to keep clean. Wash it in warm water with mild soap before and after each use. Pat it dry and store it in a pouch, away from other silicone pieces, which can react with it over time.

The vibrator in a Clone-A-Willy runs on batteries. Remove them when you store it for long periods. Glow-in-the-dark copies charge under a bright light for a few minutes before use.
