A wand vibrator, also called a wand massager, has a large rounded head that delivers broad, powerful vibration. Doxy is the British brand behind some of the strongest wands available, plus the Don, a metal bullet and a metal butt plug.

Why choose Doxy Doxy is the British wand brand, started in 2013 by William Garland and engineer Andrew Crichton. Its metal-bodied wands are known for a deep, rumbly vibration rather than a high buzz. Doxy won awards at the ETO Show in 2014, 2016 and 2020. After its original maker went into administration in 2025, William Garland relaunched the brand as Doxy 2.0. Plug-in and cordless models suit both long sessions and travel.

About Doxy
Doxy started in 2013 after William Garland's girlfriend wore out her Hitachi Magic Wand. At the time, the Hitachi was hard to buy in the UK and Europe. Garland had no background in the industry, but he set out to build a British alternative. He launched Doxy at the ETO trade show in 2013. Read the full story in our interview with William Garland.
Garland and engineer Andrew Crichton ran the business through CMG Leisure, with production at a factory in Callington, Cornwall. The factory already cast scaffolding parts, which is how the Die Cast got its metal body. For years, Doxy described itself as the only vibrator maker in the UK.
CMG Leisure entered administration on 2 September 2025. Days later, Garland and fellow director Leigh Dedhar set up Doxy 2.0 Ltd in Northampton. Doxy says the 2.0 models have reinforced necks, better electronics and more precise motor control.
The Doxy range
Doxy's range is built around one idea: deep, powerful vibration. Here is how it breaks down.
Plug-in wands
Doxy began with the plug-in wand, built because the Hitachi Magic Wand was hard to buy in the UK. The original Doxy Massager runs from mains power at 3,000 to 9,000 RPM, with variable speed and a pulse setting. Mains power means no charging and no drop in strength during long sessions. The current plug-in models are the Original and the Die Cast Max.
Die Cast range
The Die Cast was the first Doxy with a cast metal body. It was made from an aluminium and titanium alloy at a Cornwall factory that also cast scaffolding parts. The weight and metal body damp the motor, so the vibration feels deep and rumbly rather than buzzy. The Die Cast 3 is a 28 cm version with a 4.5 cm silicone head. It won Best Female Product at the ETO Awards in 2016.
Cordless wands
Doxy's cordless wands bring the same rumble without a cable. The Die Cast 3R is a 28 cm rechargeable wand with 3,000 to 9,000 RPM and about 60 minutes per charge. Doxy 2.0 now makes the Die Cast Max Cordless, the Die Cast Compact Cordless and the Doxy Go. Our rechargeable wand guide explains what to look for in a cordless wand.
Doxy Go
The Go is Doxy's smallest wand, at 160 mm long and 145 g. Its anodised aluminium body is rated IPX7, so it can go fully underwater. It reaches 7,100 RPM over five intensity levels. That makes it the Doxy for travel, the bath or shower, and anyone who finds a full-size wand too heavy. It charges between trips.
The Don
The Don is a mains-powered silicone massager shaped for internal and external use. It has a variable-speed motor and a long power cord, about 12 feet on our listing. William Garland described it as suited to anal play, vaginal play and other erogenous zones. It is the Doxy to choose when you want rumble inside the body, not just on the surface.
Metal accessories
Doxy also makes small metal pieces that share its love of weight and temperature. The Doxy Bullet is a 3.5-inch anodised aluminium vibrator with seven patterns, USB charging and a waterproof body. The Doxy Butt Plug is hand-polished aluminium, weighing 155 g, with 7 cm insertable. Metal warms or cools quickly, so both suit temperature play. Test the temperature on your wrist first.

Plug-in or cordless?
Plug-in Doxy wands give steady, full power for as long as you want. There is no battery to manage, so they suit long sessions and anyone who wants maximum strength every time. The trade-off is the cable and the need for a power point near the bed.
Cordless models give you freedom to move and to travel. The newer Die Cast Max Cordless runs for up to 160 minutes, and the Go is small enough for a toiletry bag. Most people choose plug-in for home and cordless for convenience. Browse our full range of body wands to compare other brands.
Why a Doxy feels different
Many wands have plastic bodies that rattle and buzz at high speed. Doxy's metal bodies are heavier and absorb the high-pitched part of the vibration. What reaches the skin is a lower, deeper rumble. Many people find that feels more satisfying and less numbing than a buzzy vibrator.
The weight also helps. You do not need to press hard, because the head rests against the body on its own. That makes Doxy wands easier on the wrist during long sessions.
Using a Doxy with a partner
A wand is one of the easiest ways to add vibration to partnered sex. Hold the head against the clitoris during penetration, or rest it on the perineum. William Garland also suggested pressing a wand against the base of a dildo to send vibration inside. Card-based sex games that call for a "massage" turn are a fun way to bring a Doxy into the night.
A Doxy also makes a memorable gift. See our list of Valentine's gift ideas for more suggestions.
Caring for your Doxy
Unplug or switch off your wand before cleaning. Wipe the silicone head with warm, soapy water or an adult toy cleaner, then dry it with a soft cloth. Never put a plug-in wand under running water. Wipe the metal body with a damp cloth and dry it to keep the finish bright.
Store your Doxy somewhere dry, and avoid bending the neck sharply when packing it away. Cordless models last longest if you charge them fully before first use and avoid leaving them flat for months.
Who Doxy suits — and who should look elsewhere
Doxy suits anyone who finds ordinary vibrators too weak. It is a favourite with experienced wand users, couples and people who want a vibrator built to last. It also works as a powerful back and shoulder massager.
Look elsewhere if you are sensitive to strong vibration or want something small and quiet for discreet use. Even the Go is powerful. For gentler options, browse our wider range of sex toys for women.
Please read — safety first. Doxy wands are very powerful, so start on the lowest setting and build up slowly. Use them over clothing or a towel at first if direct contact feels too strong. Do not use a wand on numb areas, broken skin, the spine or any injury. Keep plug-in models away from water, and only use cordless models in water if the rating allows it. Insert only products designed for it, such as the Don or the Doxy Butt Plug, with plenty of water-based lube. Take short breaks during long sessions, as strong vibration can cause numbness.
