Axami is a Polish lingerie label from Białystok. It makes lace G-strings, stretch wetlook pieces, mesh panel dresses and bodysuits, all listed as made in the European Union.

About Axami

Axami is a family-run lingerie business based in Zaścianki, on the edge of Białystok in north-eastern Poland. Its brand profile says a mother and daughter started it in the 1990s, sharing a passion for designing lingerie. Podlaskie is one of Poland's main lingerie-making regions, with dozens of small family workshops. The business now trades as Axami Sp. z o.o. Sp. k., a Polish limited partnership. A related company, Axami Sp. z o.o., entered the National Court Register in May 2017. Edyta Skutnicka leads the business and designs the collections.

From early on, Axami looked west. Polish press called it an exporter of exclusive women's lingerie, aimed at Western European buyers. Axami showed its collections at the Salon International de la Lingerie in Paris in 2014 and 2015. The Białystok press reported applause on the catwalk. In February 2018 it took its lingerie to the Curve trade show in Las Vegas. It had filed for the AXAMI trademark in the US in December 2017. The mark was registered in January 2019 for lingerie, bras, corsets, swimwear and sleepwear.

Awards and recognition

Axami won a run of Polish business and product awards in its early growth years. Its brand profile names it laureate of The Quality of the Year 2008 and Customer's Choice – Discovery of the Year 2009. For 2009 and 2010 it lists the Polish Product awards: the Golden Certificate of Polish Product and the Pearl Certificate of Polish Product.

Axami also holds EuroCertificate awards for three years running, in 2009, 2010 and 2011. In 2011 it added the Certificate of the Highest Quality, "Quality International 2011". These awards came before its Paris runway shows in 2014 and 2015, and before its US trademark in 2019.

Axami product lines

Axami sorts its range into five product lines. Inside each line sit named collections, and many are built as matching sets.

Axami Sexy Line

The Sexy Line is Axami's bold side, and the closest match to the look of the Axami styles at Adultsmart. On Axami's own site it includes latex-effect bodies, bras and corsets, wetlook and cut-out dresses, peek-a-boo bras and lace thongs. A push-up bra with gold studs sits alongside babydolls. Collections in this line include Black Pearl, Saturday Night, Sensual Paradise and Valley Of Sensations.

Axami Luxury Line

The Luxury Line is where Axami puts its finer fabrics and softer construction. It includes balconette push-up bras, microfiber Brazilian thongs and microfiber and mesh briefs, many from the Juicy Bloom collection. A Brazilian string with a latex effect shows that the line is not all soft lace. The line also carries Axami's sequinned swimwear, so Luxury reaches from the bedroom to the beach.

Axami Sexy Plus Line

The Sexy Plus Line takes the Sexy Line's ideas into larger sizes. Axami marks these pieces with a PS code. The line includes bras with double tulle layers, cut-outs and partly reinforced cups, plus peek-a-boo styles. Garter belts come in lace or with a glossy finish, with low-rise versions. Matching strings use shiny fabric and decorative straps, so plus-size sets carry the same detail as the core range.

Axami Swimwear

Axami Swimwear moves the brand's lingerie cuts to the pool and beach. The current range centres on sequins. It includes triangle bikini tops, bikini tops with more structure, and matching sequinned bikini briefs. Tops and briefs are sold separately, so you can choose different sizes for each half. The same AXAMI trademark registration that covers lingerie in the US also lists swimwear.

Axami Apparel

Axami Apparel is the brand's clothing line, kept apart from the lingerie on its own site. It sits next to a wider clothing category that includes dresses and nightwear. Apparel lets Axami's look carry over into outerwear, rather than stopping at the bedroom door. Named Axami collections

Axami names its collections rather than numbering them. Each has its own lace, colour and trim, and many split into named sets. These are some of the best known.

Venetian Mirror

Venetian Mirror premiered at a fashion trade fair in Las Vegas in early 2018, during Axami's first push into the US. Designer Edyta Skutnicka built it around the idea of a Venetian mirror, the two-way glass that looks like a mirror from one side. Her pitch was lingerie as a private side, hidden under everyday clothes and shown only when you choose. It arrived the same season Axami filed its US trademark.

Oriental Nights

Oriental Nights is a lace collection split into two named sets, Zaina and Maisa. Each set is built around a lace push-up bra. Zaina pairs its bra with lace briefs and a black string. Maisa pairs its bra with full lace briefs and a lace string. The mix means you can choose a thong or fuller coverage while keeping the same bra. Every piece in the collection uses lace.

Queen Of The Night

Queen Of The Night is more clothing than lingerie. Most of it is evening dresses: sheer tulle panels, sheer cut-outs, a transparent neckline and a glossy latex finish. One dress carries a diamond serpent ornament. Matte latex shorts, a skirt with a full-length zip and a short skirt with sheer panels sit alongside. A front-zip long-sleeve top, a sheer tulle blouse, a wavy-edged corset and a latex and tulle bodysuit complete it.

Candy Shop

Candy Shop names every set after a dessert. Marshmallow, Chocolate Bar, Peanut Tarte, Cranberry Muffin and Maple Lollipop sit beside Tamarillo Sorbet, Caramel Fudge, Ginger Cookie, Praline, Bonbon and Churro con Nutella. Most of the bras are peek-a-boo styles, with open cups. Textures change from set to set: glossy lace, latex-look finishes, embroidery and stripes. Semi-corsets, a half-corset garter belt and a lace bodysuit round it out.

Voulez-Vous?

Voulez-Vous? takes its name from the French for "do you want to?", and its sets carry flirty names too. Praise Me is a peek-a-boo bra built from a double layer of tulle. The two layers give the sheer fabric more body without adding padding. French Kiss is a pair of stockings with a floral pattern in the leg. The collection works as finishing pieces to wear with other Axami sets.

In Bloom

In Bloom is Axami's softer, garden-themed collection, with two sets named Primrose and Bell. Both are built on soft balconette bras with no padding, which give shape through the cut rather than foam. Primrose pairs its bra with embroidered full briefs and a transparent string. Bell adds lace full briefs, a sheer tulle thong and a lace garter belt. It suits anyone who finds push-up bras too structured.

Preciosa

Preciosa is a small, colour-led collection built around its Coral set. The coral push-up bra is trimmed with black details, so the bright shade has a sharp outline. It pairs with a lace string in the same colourway. The contrast between coral and black gives it a bolder look than a single-colour set. It is a good starting point if you usually wear black but want colour.

Golden Dream

Golden Dream leans on structure. Two lace semi-corsets act as longline bras, and one adds cross straps at the front. A push-up bra with open cups gives the peek-a-boo option. Bottoms come as an embroidered thong or a Brazilian thong with embroidery. Stockings with a striped top and a lace chemise finish the set. The Zip G-String has an open zipper front, twin side straps and a cotton gusset. The plain Stretch Wetlook G-String has twin straps and a front O-ring. Axami's dresses are short and fitted, and each uses sheer tulle in a different place. The Off The Shoulder Mesh Panel Dress has two mesh midriff panels and mesh sleeves, in black or red. The Halter Neck Mesh Dress has a teardrop opening at the neckline and two buttons at the nape. The Floral Back Mesh V Front Dress has nude floral embroidery on the back, which reads like a tattoo against black fabric.

Lace and mesh bodysuits

The Lace Halter Neck Bodysuit is one of Axami's most detailed pieces. It combines Oriental lace with soft tulle and has ribbon ties at the neck and back. A triple hook-and-eye closure lets you adjust the fit across the back. It comes in blue or red. The Long Sleeve Mesh Bodysuit is simpler: black breathable mesh with long sleeves and shaped seams. It works on its own or layered under a jacket or skirt.

Lace, wetlook and mesh: what you are wearing

Axami says it imports most of its fabrics from Italy, Spain, France and Austria. It works with a small set of them, and each behaves differently on the body. Lace is the softest. Axami uses stretch lace on its G-strings and Oriental lace, a denser, patterned style, on the halter bodysuit. Tulle is a fine, sheer net. Axami uses it for panels on dresses and bodysuits, so the skin shows through in set places.

Stretch wetlook is the fabric that sets Axami apart from most lingerie brands. It gives a glossy, fetish-style finish with far more give than PVC. It does not trap heat as badly as vinyl, and it does not need talc or shine spray like latex. Microfiber is the plain workhorse. It is smooth, light and quick to dry, which is why the classic G-strings use it. Cotton gussets on the zip G-string and the lace thong add a breathable layer where it matters.

Wetlook needs a little care when you put it on. Roll skirts and leggings up from the hem rather than pulling at the waist, and keep long nails clear of the surface. Zips on the bra, G-string and skirts are part of the design, so close them slowly the first few times. Lace and tulle snag on jewellery, so take off rings first.

How Axami fits

Axami sizes run from XS to XL. G-strings cover the widest spread, while the bras run XS to L. Size options vary by style and colour, so check what is available on each product page before you choose.

Wetlook fits close to the body. It stretches, but it has less recovery than lace, so a too-small skirt will ride up. The halter bodysuit and the half cup bra both have hook-and-eye backs, which give some room to adjust. Halterneck pieces take weight at the neck, so the ribbon and button fastenings are worth setting carefully.
