Hey Oz: I am in a relationship but I fantasize a lot. Often I wake up after having dreams of having sex with other women. I told my partner about this and she got upset – saying why do I think of other women – is she not enough. Is it normal to have these types of sexual fantasies?
A. Having dreams about other women while in a committed relationship is actually quite common. It’s completely normal and doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re unhappy in your current relationship. Or that you’re looking to cheat.
Dreams are a reflection of our subconscious thoughts and desires.
They often don’t reflect our true feelings or intentions in our waking life. It’s possible that these dreams are simply a manifestation of your sexual fantasies and desires, which is completely normal and healthy.
It is understandable that your partner may feel upset or insecure about your dreams. Communicate with her and reassure her that these dreams don’t reflect your feelings towards her or your commitment to your relationship.
It’s Okay to Have Sexual Fantasies
Remember that while it’s okay to have sexual fantasies and desires, it’s not okay to act on them in a way. That would betray your partner’s trust or compromise the integrity of your relationship.
Maintain open and honest communication with your partner about your thoughts and feelings. Work together to address any issues or concerns that may arise. Ultimately, the key to a healthy and happy relationship is mutual trust, respect, and communication.
