Adam Lewis the co-founder of Hot Octopuss came up with the idea of creating a sex toy that would easily stimulate men. He studied a detailed medical report about penile vibratory stimulation (PVS) and how there was an FDA approved vibrating device that allowed men with spinal cord injuries or other ailments that caused erectile dysfunction to involuntarily ejaculate. Lewis sought to improve on this medical device to create something he wanted to call a ‘guybrator’.
Lewis then contacted Multicept the Danish developer of the FDA approved device and came to an agreement to license their technology. A number of unsuccessful prototypes were developed during the R&D stages until finally they partnered up with a company called Curventa whose task was to make the device less cumbersome, more attractive and develop the oscillating technologies. Four years after the project began, in 2013, the first male sex toy called the Pulse 1 was released.
The Pulse became a bestselling ‘guybrator’ and was subsequently improved upon with the release of the Pulse II, Pulse III, the Pulse Duo and the Pulse Solo. In late 2017 Hot Octopuss released the Hot Octopuss Pocket Pulse and Pocket Pulse Remote.
Pocket PULSE and the Pocket Pulse Remote does not use the same oscillating technology as PULSE III. It uses a different kind of tech – two powerful traditional vibrators that work in tandem. This allows the cost of the unit to be cheaper to make the products accessible to more people.
The Pocket Pulse when switched on emits deep and rumbly vibrations but is versatile and lightweight. It has a compact design and is perfect to use as a stroker.
As with all the Pulse products for men it can be used whilst the penis is flaccid or erect and is made from a soft silicone with a flexible arm that allows it to fit all sizes. The arm is designed to sit just below the penis head and it comes with a handy remote control so whilst you are stroking off with the device in one hand you can control the vibration speeds and modes with the other to gain ultimate pleasurable stimulation.
The Pocket Pulse is completely waterproof so that it can be used in the shower or bath. The main differences between the original Pulse’s and the Pocket Pulse is that Pulse uses medical device technology whilst the Pocket Pulse relies more on the conventional vibrating technologies to enhance your masturbatory experiences. The Pulse sends pulsing, piston like tapping sensations along the penis whilst the Pocket Pulse uses two large vibrating motors that work in tandem to deliver intense stimulation.
Having received one of these marvellous sex toys for review from our friends at Hot Octopuss the first thing to take in was the box. It was squarish in shape, well designed and with a shiny gold foil. It is really high class and has great artwork. Removing the device from the box I found the unit – it has a handy plug in port and on the left side with the arm closest to me was a minus button and on the right a plus button. I plugged the USB recharging cable and charged it up. The remote was easy enough to work out and I opened it up to be pleasantly surprised that the battery was included.
My Personal Experience With The Pocket Pulse Remote
Once the Pocket Pulse was charged I liberally applied some water based lubricant on the internals and having read about it working on a flaccid penis placed it on. It was very easy to put the penis in and comfortable when in place. I turned it on and true to the promotional material a deep rumbly vibration began. The sensations were really weird (having a flaccid penis) and I felt a tingling sensation in and around my testicles. Purposely I resisted the temptation to use it as a stroker and allowed it to sit on my penis and let it do the work.
Within ten minutes I ejaculated and was only semi-erect. It was the weirdest orgasm I ever had, I marvelled at how fantastic this would be for mobility impaired or those suffering from penile dysfunction. To be able to ejaculate without having to stroke. It was something I had never experienced before and I can really see a need for it so hats off to Hot Octopuss. However now I wanted to experience the sex toy whilst stroking to see the difference.
So, after washing the sex toy and myself down I got down to the nitty gritty of trying the Pocket Pulse again and fitted it after applying a liberal amount of lubricant. After I switched the vibrating motor on I began to stroke it. The arm is flexible so the tightness around the penis can be adjusted to the user’s taste. Within seconds I was semi-erect and within minutes I was hard. The sensations were more ‘traditional’ using it as a stroker and I was quite comfortable with the lower speeds, the higher speeds were just too intense for me. It was not long before I ejaculated again and it was something that I was more accustomed too. My personal preference is using it as a stroker but again, I reiterate that it is pure genius that it can be used basically as a hands-free masturbation device.
The remote control simply has a plus and minus button that whilst the device is switched on adjust the vibration speeds.
The Pocket Pulse would make a great addition to any male sex toy collection and also doubles for those that would use as a substitute for a sex aid.
