The Mystery Behind The G-Spot Revealed!

While the G-Spot has always been there it is only in recent years that attention is finally being paid to this area of the female body. This article will explain the what, where and why of the G-Spot and will also recommend some specific toys that will pay special attention to this sometimes elusive erogenous zone.

What Is The G-spot?

The G-spot (also called the Grafenberg spot- named after German gynaecologist Ernst Grafenberg) is a particular position within a woman’s vagina with increased sensitivity that reacts when rubbed, touched, penetrated etc.

There has been much debate (since around the 1940’s) as to whether the G-spot is real or not. Scientists have had difficulty defining the G-spots structure and make up as well as what it could be connected or linked too. Many say the g-spot could be linked to the clitoris while others say it is a female prostate.  Another issue is the ability to “test” and “prove” the g-spots existence. Most “proof” available is known as anecdotal (meaning that it is individual stories and accounts not a scientific study that can be recreated to prove results.) This doesn’t mean that the G-spot isn’t real, it just means that scientists aren’t able with the current technologies to confirm its existence.

Side Note: Some studies using ultra sound have found physical evidence of the g-spot in women who can achieve orgasms through vaginal intercourse.

Now while it may only be anecdotal evidence I can say that the sheer number of women who came into our stores looking for products that focus on the g-spot an claiming not only its existence but how it has changed their sex life, is well… a lot, and that’s all I need to know. When it doubt I always trust the person who owns the equipment to best know how to use it.

Where Is The G-Spot?

This is the million dollar question that has everyone wondering. Generally (and I mean generally it may be different for you) the G-Spot is located about 50-80mm inside the front wall of the vagina. For those of us who don’t want to get a ruler out during sex that is roughly the length of a female middle or index finger (yes I did measure my finger to double check.)

If you are unsure where it is, the best advice is, with clean hands do some personal investigation. It is very important you become familiar with your vagina, vulva and where your G-spot is. If you don’t know how can you give directions to anyone else? Once you have located your g-spot find what is pleasurable for you, is it tapping and penetration? Is it gentle massage? Or is it something completely different? Take the time to learn what your G-Spot likes so you know where it is, so you can pick toys that work for you and give partners direction.

Why The G-Spot?

So you’ve read all this and are thinking “OK but what is the point of all this?” The short answer is it will make your sex life better. The stimulation of the G-spot can increase sexual arousal, give you more powerful orgasms and may even allow women to ejaculate (squirt). Now as we discussed earlier there is varying scientific proof but the anecdotal (stories from people who have experienced it) it is overwhelming and most people who have experienced G-spot stimulation agree that all this can happen when the G-spot is used.

Where the G-Spot is Located

A case study in 1981 reported “that stimulation of the anterior vaginal wall (where the G-Spot is located) made the area “grow” by up to 50% and that self-reported levels of arousal and orgasm were “deeper” when the G-spot was simulated.” What this suggests is that stimulation of the G-spot increases blood flow to the area and the increased blood flow heightens sensitivity resulting in a more powerful sexual experience.

Side note: I do want to take a moment to say that some women are unable to find or claim not to have a G-spot. Without understanding the G-Spot completely it is hard to understand why this may be. However I do believe that every woman owes it herself to at least investigate your g-spot.
